Quote from zazzn :Is there a full in-depth discussion as to what makes

LFS good
RFactor good
Iracing Good?

I'm new to car sims and toca racer 3 was one of the best I found for the PC before I found LFS.

I'm just looking for other games out there... I won't try I racing because I wasn't about to spend 14$ a month. Rfactor looks pretty good... Suggestions?

To be honest, all three you mentioned and netKar Pro all have a lot to offer and all have their drawbacks. The one thing they all have in common is they are proper sims, unlike Toca which is really an arcade game.... semi-sim at best.

brief thoughts...

LFS:- Good physics, superb ease of use when it comes to multiplayer, still a big community despite it being a lot quieter than it used to be, though once the next patch arrives it will really take off again (for a while at least)
Limited to the content the devs produce.

rFactor :- More content than you'll ever get to use. Lots of very good tracks. Lots of cars but 90% of them are pretty poor physics wise.
Pick up racing is pretty poor due to the massive spread of users over the amount of content. Some good leagues though.

iRacing. Equal top of the bunch when it comes to physics and the clear leader when it comes to top quality tracks. Very in depth service offering everything you can possibly want as a serious sim racer. Very regular updates and new content. Worth every penny if your serious about the hobby.

netKar Pro. Physics on a par with iRacing (if not slightly better) Another hardcore sim for the serious sim racer. Limited car choice, but all are absolutely top quality. Not a whole lot of tracks, but more community built tracks appearing slowly but surely. Next to no pickup racing but plenty of league racing to be found. Dirt cheap.

As i said..they all have plus and minus points. I race all of them on and off because they all offer something the others dont. We'll worth having them all in your collection. Dont be put off by iRacings price. There's nearly always some sort of offer going on where you can pick up three months subs cheap.

I haven't raced LFS properly for a long time but i'll keep my eye on this.

Quote from Boris Lozac :Ok, i'll stop... You can't discuss some things through text, people can missunderstand you and think you're insulting them or something, that's honestly not what i'm trying to do here.. it would be better if we contiuned this in some pub i can say some things through text that i didn't mean, and english not beeing my native language contributes to that..

Aye , very true. I hate trying to communicate in forums at times. Let's meet in the Pub then. Where is halfway? Germany? They have some good beer

Quote from Boris Lozac :
It was probably hyped as the next big new thing regarding animations and CGI techniques, which you gotta admit, it is..

It really wasn't that impressive. The 3D was done better than anything before it, but that's about it.The rest of it just looked..well...computer generated....
(and i sure as hell dont want to see many films going down the 3D route. It's fine as an occasional novelty, but thats all)

Quote from Boris Lozac : but it's just that some of you people are so restricted from good fun, just because it doesn't have those things.. Are you one of those people that stay in the corner, where all of his friends are having a good time, just because he doesn't find that particular song likeable by his 'standards'..

LMAO. Restricted from good fun?
Don't make assumptions about people you know nothing about. I don't know about Mackie but you're as far off the mark as you could get with me. (Though i must admit i do a good grumpy old man impression on the internet at times )

Quote from Mackie The Staggie :The problem with Avatar was that the pre-media spin blew it out of proportion, along with the 3D gimmick (seriously hope this does not take off as I always seem to suffer a headache afterwards). If you were to watch the film in standard 2D, you'll find that Avatar is nothing great, definitely not what some have built it up to be. Don't get me wrong, it's not the worst film by a long stretch of the imagination, it's just another average run of the mill movie full of special effects but when stripped bare there's little substance to back it up.

Absolutely spot on.

..or just go into the FSX controls config and remove the wheel axis. No need to fiddle about with the Logitech settings then.

It's based on the short story by Todd Strasser which itself is based on the experiment the high school teacher Ron Jones conducted in the 60ies (which didn't end in murder though)

Enough of the spoilers, thanks!

Ok, on the serious note - Die Welle (The Wave, 2008). Great film from school surroundings, a teacher who learns about anarchy etc. with let's say a little bit too formal relationship to his students, creating his own 'extremist' group called The Wave.

Thanks for that..looks interesting. I'll watch it tonight.

Quote from SidiousX :I thought Avatar was great, don't see how there isn't a story, guess people just try to hard to find flaws in good movies.

Ohh, there is a story alright. It's called Dances With Wolves

How can he take Jamie Foxx from Oscar winner to a bit of crap on the end of a shoe, but he found a way? Another 1980's memory ruined....You Bar-steward

Haha, I'm with you on that one...though i think all directors can be forgiven for one complete stinker

The Spierig brothers are now in my top 5 list of directors whom I despise...not enough to dislodge Michael Mann from the top spot yet but close.

What the hell? How can you hate Michael Mann? He directed two awesome movies, Heat and The Insider, along with some other really good films , Manhunter,The Last Of The Mohicans,Public Enemies. Even Collateral and Ali were fairly good.

Quote from G!NhO :Really who cares about a "good" storyline, it's all about the eye candy these days.

Bullshit.

Edit:- Just checked your age. Explains it all. Don't worry..you'll grow up one day and realize substance wins out over style every time. Eye candy should enhance a story, not be a substitute for one.

Quote from Luke.S :if you like high fidelity you can't get any better than the dodosim bell 206. It is ****ing awsome.

Indeed..it's the king of the eggbeaters for FSX. It's always my bird of choice when exploring any new scenery i purchase.

The planes i rate just as highly are the A2A Piper Cub (with the accusim addon) and Digital Aviation's Dornier DO-27. Realair's Spitfires are pretty damn good too.

Treat them all well or your in for a brown trouser moment

Quote from Electrik Kar :Long story short... erm... T2 ain't so great.

..It's certainly not as good as T1, but it's still a very solid action flick that i still whip out for a watch a couple of times a year and enjoy every time. I sure as hell wont be able to say the same about Avatar which i will never watch again in my life.

I cant really compare it to 'Silence' as they are totally different films. That's a fantastic thriller and T2 is a popcorn action movie. Not really a fair comparison. I like them both equally for different reasons.
